India on the moon?

On 22nd October, India sent a satellite (“Chandrayaan 1”) to orbit the moon for the next 2 years. This launch cost 50 million dollares. India is showing to the world its desire and abilities to conquer a place in the universe.

Meanwhile, half the population of India - some 500 million people - are living with less than 55 ruppees a day, which in Euro accounts for about 90 cents in today's conversion rate.

Should we try to conquer outerspace while we can't deal with Earth's own problems?
